Red Sandalwood is considered astringent, tonic, and diaphoretic. A paste of the wood is used externally as a cooling application for inflammations and headaches. It is said to be useful in bilious affections and skin diseases. A decoction of the fruit is used as an astringent tonic.

Rathkihiri is used with other drugs in the preparation of decoctions in the treatment of biliousness, eczema, insanity and poisoning. It is said to possess anti-suppurative and antiseptic properties and is used for skin diseases such as eczema, Psoriasis, acne and dermatitis.

The juice of the root burns the body tissue, increases appetite, and is good for diarrhoea, and dysentery

This plant is used for dysentery, hiccough and wasting diseases.

The pine plant is used externally to provide relief from rheumatic conditions, lumbago and arthritis.
