The juice of the lime is used to treat bilious vomiting and is an antiseptic particularly for cleaning wounds. It is applied externally on snakebites.

This herb is used in the preparation of medicinal oils and pills for the treatment of fever, cold, dysentery and lung diseases including tuberculosis. The root is used in the preparation of pills, which are given for chronic fevers.

The bark is astringent and is used for fever, diarrhoea and dysentery. The oil from this plant is used for skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis. The stem acts as an aromatic stomachic and carminative, stimulating the appetite and improving the digestion and is useful in anorexia, acute and chronic dyspesia and flatulence.

The bark is prescribed for biliousness and all parts of the plant are used to cure snakebites. The ripe fruit is eaten with sugar or honey as a custard.

The juice of the leaves is an antidote for opium poisoning. A decoction of the bark is ingested to stimulate the appetite improving digestion. It is employed with much benefit for anorexia and chronic dyspepsia.
